ThingsPool has given every one of its rooms a second floor. It is a 3D world that opens from a link in a browser tab, where you appear as a character and can rebuild the room around you while other people are standing in it. Walk up a staircase to the upper floor, step out to the edge of the balcony, and look down on the hall below.
Until now a room was a single floor under a ceiling that sat a little above your head. Everything anyone built ran along the ground, because there was nothing above it but that ceiling.
A room is now twice as tall, with a floor laid across the middle of it. Staircases join the two levels, and each one is wide enough to walk straight up rather than balance along. Some halls are left open from the ground all the way to the ceiling, and the upper floor looks down into them over a balcony that runs around the edge.
Stand at that edge, or at the top of a flight of stairs, and the view tilts down over the drop by itself, so the floor below is already in front of you.
Every room decides all of this for itself before anyone walks in: where its staircases stand, which of its halls are left open through both floors, and where its paintings hang on each level.
All of it is yours to change, on either floor. Open a hole in the floor above you and run a balcony around it, build a second staircase in the corner, or raise a tower through both storeys and paint the wall the whole way up. Everything is made of the same blocks as before, with twice the height to stack them in.
